Tree Planting Ceremony at Brown University – Nov 2010

It was emotional day.

On November 19th, we gathered at Hillel to listen to speakers who all said wonderful things about Avi and talked of his impact on each of them and their work. The speakers included Reverand Janet Cooper Nelson, Professors Maude Mandel, Michael Satlow, David Jacobson, President Ruth Simmons, Hillel student president Leor Shtul-Leber, and Rabbi Mordechai Rackover.

The speakers were followed by a tree planting in the courtyard and that was followed by lunch hosted by Hillel. Many of Avi’s friends joined us for the ceremony and continued to spend time with our family over Shabbat and throughout the weekend. We are so grateful for the care shown to us by all involved in the Brown University community. This experience has become yet another cherished memory for our family.
