ASF opens registration for the 2013 Jerusalem Symposium

The Avi Schaefer Fund has opened registration for the 2013 Jerusalem Symposium on February 17, 2013. The program brings together North American student leaders from high school, gap-year, study abroad, and post-graduate programs in Israel to hear from distinguished scholars, thinkers, and activists in Israeli society.

This year’s Symposium will center around the subject of “The Meaning and Purpose of Israel as a Jewish State”. It will ask: What makes a State “Jewish”? What should and shouldn’t characterize the Jewish State? Is Israel after 65 years a Jewish State? How do we reconcile the universal with the particular?

The keynote address will be delivered by A.B. Yehoshua.

Panel presenters include:
David Horovitz, Times of Israel (moderator)
Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman, The Shalom Hartman Institute
Anat Hoffman, Israel Religious Action Center
Professor Rachel Elior, Hebrew University
Dr. Yoram Hazony, The Shalem Center
