Jewish and Muslim Students Dialogue at Hillel
The idea to bring Avi Shabbat to our campus this year was inspired by the success of last year’s event. Hearing from the students about the great experience they had made me want to make this event an annual one.
For those who don’t know, the Avi Schaefer Fund was established in memory of Avi who tragically died in a car accident. Avi was involved in a variety of projects to promote understanding and peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The Avi Shabbat Program is an annual event in cooperation with Hillels and Jewish student groups across North America to bring together students on campus for a communal meal.
