We are excited to share the growing impact and geographic reach of the Avi Schaefer Fund (ASF) campus programming through our new interactive map showing campus activity from 2012-2015. ASF Campus Granting Programs engage students and college campus communities across North America- from Los Angeles to Providence, from Calgary to New Orleans and many places in between.
The Avi Shabbat Initiative brings together diverse communities of students for meaningful conversations over Shabbat meals. In 2011, over 90 campuses marked Avi’s yahrtzeit with a Shabbat gathering that has since evolved into the ASF-funded Avi Shabbat Initiative. Avi Shabbat gatherings are held annually in the winter and spring to honor the memory of one remarkable young man, Avi Schaefer, whose story inspires informed discussion and reflection around critical global and campus issues.
ASF’s Innovation Grant Program supports and promotes unique, meaningful learning opportunities on campuses across the continent. Over the past three years, Innovation Grants supported a variety of activities ranging from Interfaith Alternative Spring Break trips to programs within Jewish campus communities that encourage productive conversation around Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.
